Zeeshan Syed, PhD is the Founder and CEO of HEALTH@SCALE, a healthcare machine intelligence company founded by machine learning and clinical faculty with ties to MIT, Harvard, Stanford and U-Michigan. HEALTH@SCALE brings precision delivery to precision medicine; by predictively optimizing managed and accountable care at critical points across the care continuum.

Zeeshan was formerly a Clinical Associate Professor at the Stanford University School of Medicine and the Inaugural Director of the Clinical Inference and Algorithms Program at Stanford Health Care (Stanford Hospital and Clinics). He was also previously a member of the core early-stage team that launched the Google[X] Life Sciences initiative (now Verily) and an Associate Professor with Tenure in Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Michigan, where he was a Principal Investigator for the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory and led the Computational Biomarker Discovery and Clinical Inference Group. Zeeshan received SB and MEng degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT, and a PhD through a joint program between MIT’s School of Engineering and Harvard Medical School in Computer Science and Biomedical Engineering.

His work investigates the design and application of advanced healthcare-specialized machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies targeting priority use cases for patients, payers, providers and pharma, and has featured at top machine learning and artificial intelligence conferences (NIPS, ICML, AAAI, KDD, AISTATS, SIAM SDM) and in the popular media (Wired, CBS, NPR, WSJ, Technology Review, ZDNet). Zeeshan is the recipient of multiple national awards for his activities in the healthcare machine intelligence space, including the prestigious CAREER award from the National Science Foundation.
